Implementation of a Kanban-System in an international timber house building company
Task:
At the production site at Erkheim a large number of different consumables ( screws, nails, cramps etc.) are required for the production of wall-, roof- and ceiling-elements. The previously complicated buying process (order, order confirmation, receipt of goods etc.) resulted in high costs which had to be downsized.
Methods:
- Determination of different models
- Analysis of current situation
- Data collection and determination of quantities consumed
- Product specification for supplier inquiries
- Negotiation with suppliers
- Evaluation/assessment of offers received
- Implementation of the new process
Results and benefit:
The introduction of the Kaban software resulted in a lean and transparent buying process and considerable costs reductions could be achieved.
